Yeasts and Moulds are both fungal species. They are common spoilage agents, disease causing agents and they are also used for the benefit of mankind in the production of many different substances such as antibiotics, foods and alcohol. Many species which generally do not cause problems can as with other microorganism cause serious infections of the immunocompromised.
